Here at Back to Basics, we are a family farm located in the Sierra Foothills in the small town of Grass Valley that has been around for 30 years with the goal of raising poultry for our family and our neighborhood. As the years have passed and the demand for locally raised farm products has grown, our farm has had the opportunity to expand and become its own local business with the idea of community in mind. Back to Basics farm is unique in the way that we raise everything we sell to ensure we are putting out the best possible quality for all of our products. We use all natural feeds with no added medications or hormones to guarantee that our products are fresh and natural for our local consumers. At Back to Basics farm, our goal is to provide quality, sustainable products to our friends in our local community.
The crew in Grass Valley is small but mighty. Katie and Justin are the two that keep it going. Katie Graduated from Chico State in 2016 with a degree in Agriculture Business. She worked as an office manager for two and a half years and took over the farm in the beginning of 2018 when Rob and Patty moved to Idaho. Justin is a river scientist and works for Sierra Streams Institute. Olga she is a great Pyrenees mix, Rylee is a Border Collie, and Ursa is a caucasin arvcharka. These three pups help keep the animals and other parts of the crew safe!
